In a world where we continue to settle our differences with guns and bombs; many of us perceive any philosophy of nonviolence as passive; outdated; and intrinsically bound to religious beliefs. We laud one of the most famous proponents of nonviolent resistance; Martin Luther King; Jr.; as an activist and orator; but seldom acknowledge him as an important intellectual. Seeking to correct these misunderstandings; Greg Moses's powerful book at last identifies King as one of the greatest thinkers of our time/m-/one whose philosophy has deep; unappreciated roots and lasting consequences.

Men Of Granite an excellent read!By David M. MorinBeing from New Hampshire and enjoying first-person accounts of NH soldiers this book fills the bill. There aren't a lot of books available on the NH perspective and of those most are long out of print. Days And Events by Thomas Livemore continues to be a hard to find classic having been published by Houghton Miflin in 1920. With the market flooded with a lot of sub-par CW books out there I have found Men Of Granite an excellent read. First Civil War related book I've purchased in ages. I highly recommend it!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.
