Landing Ship; Tank (LST) 1942–2002 (New Vanguard)

ebooks Landing Ship; Tank (LST) 1942–2002 (New Vanguard) by Gordon L. Rottman in History

Description

In this provocative history; Mike Davis traces the car bomb’s worldwide use and development; in the process exposing the role of state intelligence agencies—particularly those of the United States; Israel; India; and Pakistan—in globalizing urban terrorist techniques. Davis argues that it is the incessant impact of car bombs; rather than the more apocalyptic threats of nuclear or bio-terrorism; that is changing cities and urban lifestyles; as privileged centers of power increasingly surround themselves with ‘rings of steel’ against a weapon that nevertheless seems impossible to defeat.

There is a sentence that says these ships participated in Korea and Vietnam. That is it. No other info at all. This book may be good for WW2 buffs; but that's where the info ends. DO NOT buy this book unless you are looking for WW2 info. One sentence is a BS way to claim this book covers these ships up to 2002.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Running a 328 foot ship onto the beachBy Dale BoultonThere are only a few LST's still around from WW2: Muskegon; MI; is home to one. I have yet to travel to Muskegon to view the LST and the USS Silversides submarine. It should be worth seeing both ships. The book does not have enough about the design of the ships; but the photos do show the details of the LST delivering the men and materials ashore on hostile beaches. A good book for navy history buffs.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Fascinating details on this important; but unglamorous; ships.By Michael A. UlmFascinating details on this important; but unglamorous; ship. I had always found all the landing acronyms confusing: LST; LSI; LCI; LCA; LCT; etc. Now I get LSTs and why their ability to unload over the beaches was critical to Allied efforts in Western Europe.
