I have been following the writings of the various authors for a number of years and; besides the other publications they have written; love their Journal of the American Revolution website. The research that goes into each and every "story" is phenomenal; and with the 'sestercentennial' (the 250th) anniversary of this War for Independence only 10 years away; these 'Journals' should be at the top of everyone's list for historical information. I find myself referencing them quite often in my own research. That being said; I have to admit I was disappointed upon receiving the 2015 edition. Oh; the historical information; as noted; is beyond compare; but the previous "Journal" book - for 2014 - has not only the words that brings history to life; but was illustrated with lavish photographs; maps; and paintings that brought the past vividly to my living room and accented the text beautifully.I'm not sure why the 2015 edition wasn't published to that standard (hence the 4 stars instead of 5); but I certainly hope 2016's will be.Either way; this book is a must have for both the casual reader as well as for the accredited historian. Our early American history needs to brought back out to the forefront; and Andrlik Company are just the folks to do it.8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Another Truly Amazing Addition; Edition or Both. However....By jeffbThe content is absolutely outstanding. As a non-scholarly American Revolution aficionado (is that even possible?) I am deeply impressed with the body of work that is presented in this and the previous volume. The many; many articles are unique; diverse; interesting; thorough and provide insight and information outside the many dozens of books that I have previously read on the American Revolution. It truly is a special book that is an excellent addition to anyone's collection whether teacher; professor; historian or just someone passionate and interested in the founding of our country.However.... I was a little shocked when it arrived and it was the size of a normal hardcover book. The inside is set up and written just like a regular book with just a few photographs; charts and other supporting documents. One of the things I loved about the first one is the high quality reproduction and presentation. It felt special; it provided an interesting presentation; it came alive off the pages without it being a website; app or digital book. It's something that I actually still keep on the end table in my den. This one; I will read from cover to cover and it will go on a shelf with my other books. It's missing a little something. I wish their was a happy medium somehow that balanced the two.9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Treasury of Topics!By John L Smith JrCompiled for the non-academic person who would like to know more about the founding of the country; the original articles are nevertheless researched and written by the most authoritative historians today. The wide variety of non-boring topics covered in the short articles is excellent! There's a subject in this book for everyone. Very enjoyable reading and browsing; and should be on the desk of every liberty-loving person this year and beyond.
