In 1948; the Constitution of the World Health Organization declared; “Health is a state of complete physical; mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.†Yet this idea was not predominant in the United States immediately after World War II; especially when it came to women’s reproductive health. Both legal and medical institutions—and the male legislators and physicians who populated those institutions—reinforced women’s second class social status and restricted their ability to make their own choices about reproductive health care. In More Than Medicine; Jennifer Nelson reveals how feminists of the ‘60s and ‘70s applied the lessons of the new left and civil rights movements to generate a women’s health movement. The new movement shifted from the struggle to revolutionize health care to the focus of ending sex discrimination and gender stereotypes perpetuated in mainstream medical contexts. Moving from the campaign for legal abortion to the creation of community clinics and feminist health centers; Nelson illustrates how these activists revolutionized health care by associating it with the changing social landscape in which women had power to control their own life choices. More Than Medicine poignantly reveals how social justice activists in the United States gradually transformed the meaning of health care; pairing traditional notions of medicine with less conventional ideas of “healthy†social and political environments.

That is a myth perpetrated by black race-baiters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. [...] obviously does not know the meaning of the word "holocaust." Simply put; there was no organized effort by the United States government to exterminate Negro slaves; as was the case with the holocaust in Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. There wasn't even any effort by individuals in the United States to totally eradicate Negroes; whether slave or free. Most Jews that participated in the African trade were slaves themselves; either to the Portuguese or the Muslims (the Portuguese called these people the "lançados"); and were usually used to keep the books. The biggest slavers - the people who went into the African interior for centuries to capture slaves for sale; were Muslims. In fact; it's mainly in the Islamic countries that slavery; especially the enslavement of animist Negroes; still takes place.It's nothing to do with not being able to say something negative about Jews. It's about the claims of the "Nation of Islam" simply not being true. If you want to read a thoroughly researched documentation of Jewish involvement; read The Secret Relationship Between Blacks Jews.What is needed is simply the recognition and admission by Jews of their significant role in the African slave trade; if only because it is clear they dominated the financial world in that period. They were the bankers who loaned the money to fund this trade. Jews must also acknowledge their role in creating and propogating the 'myth of Ham' that became the basis for black enslavement in the western world.This is no more than Jews have asked of Germans; to acknowledge their role in the Jewish Holocuast. Jews must acknowledge their role in the black holocaust.Now I know I will be blasted as an anti-semite because if you say anything negative about Jews in this country; you are so labeled. However; we need an honest dialogue to resolve this issue.
