God's accomplishments through George Whitefield are to this day virtually unparalleled. In an era when many ministers were timid and apologetic in their preaching; he preached the gospel with zeal and undaunted courage. In the wake of his fearless preaching; revival swept across the British Isles; and the Great Awakening transformed the American colonies. The previous two-volume work George Whitefield: The Life and Times of the Great Evangelist of the Eighteenth-Century Revival is now condensed into this single volume; filled with primary-source quotations from the eighteenth century; not only from Whitefield but also from prominent figures such as John and Charles Wesley; Benjamin Franklin; and William Cowper.

I really enjoyed reading about the people who have looked after the first families for over two hundred years. It gave information about the White House being built. It is interesting and I shared with my family. A great find and well worth the money.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. great for the collectionBy HoboI have a small collection of books about the White House and this is a nice addition to it. The National Geographic Society lends itself well to this project with their exceptional photos and graphics. A topic as big as this building can't be handled in detail in just one volume; but for those who love the architecture and history of the building and its residents this is a good beginning.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
