5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A difficult but worthwhile bookBy Charles from Redondo BeachThis is a fascinating book because it helps explain why powerful nations have been interested in the Middle East for centuries. The writing style is at a higher level than more popular books. It is close to thesis or dissertation level in some sections and this may be a challenge for some. The book is a collection of chapters written by different authors and the transition from chapter to chapter maybe jarring.Having said all of that; I still liked the book. This book is not a summer reading. I think it would be better when you are stuck inside.
