Hypnotic States of Americans: A spiritual survival manual for every American family in a perilous world

DOC Hypnotic States of Americans: A spiritual survival manual for every American family in a perilous world by Roy Masters in History

Description

Washington Countys involvement in the Civil War conjures images of the terrible aftermath of the Battle of Antietam. But many other events occurred there during the war. Wedged into a narrow neck between Pennsylvania and West Virginia; the area was the setting for many important events in the conflict. From John Brown launching his raid on nearby Harpers Ferry at the Kennedy Farm in 1859 to the dragnet that ensnared local citizens following President Lincolns assassination in 1865; the military was a constant presence. Antietam changed the course of the war and provided President Lincoln the military events needed to issue the Emancipation Proclamation. Harpers Ferry; the CO Canal; and several rail lines were of vital importance for projecting Union strength into the Shenandoah Valley. They were regularly attacked and defended; and Hagerstown was nearly burned in 1864. Many from across the nation returned home indelibly affected by their experiences in Washington County; some never made it back at all.

I believe this one is the best written. Mr. Masters writing style may difficult for some. I believe his writing assumes the reader already has a fairly solid grasp on the concepts and principles that he has espoused for decades. I still at times have difficulty connecting the points he makes together enough to follow him all the way to the principle he is attempting to lay out for the reader; but maybe it's just me. That being said I love this book. This is not the kind of book you breeze through and never touch again. The weightiness and depth of the subject matter demand consideration and contemplation to wring out the wisdom of Mr. Masters insight.I've heard Roy say in a few of his online webcasts that the subject matter he discusses is of a type that is very difficult to understand simply through the explanation of it. It is a subject matter that is deeper than mere intellect which is why many cannot understand it. These people often times out of a sense of their own pride fullness will determine that since they don't understand it that it must not be understandable; which of course leads to demeaning insults and criticism of Mr. Masters. So I will say this.... some people "get it" and some don't. The ones that don't "get it" probably won't "get" any thing Roy talks about. The ones that do their understanding of it unlocks in their minds and hearts a new universe of knowledge and awareness that they never knew before. They begin at that moment to see people and themselves differently. What they have found is understanding; understanding of people. And when you understand people; REALLY UNDERSTAND PEOPLE; you can understand the world.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Ridiculous!!!By Candace MurgatroidThis book was recommended to me by a friend who had a lot of enthusiasm for it and thought I'd get some kind of benefit from reading it. I found the book extremely repetitive; pointless; and fraught with paranoia about life. It's very poorly written and the logic in the author's mind seems to run in circles around itself like a dog chasing its tail. The information is presented so as to make the reader think this author; name of Roy Masters; has the secret answer to everything that's wrong in the world. He seems to think we're all doomed unless we listen to his ideas and rhetoric. I really tried to gather meaning from the book but found it utterly ridiculous. My friend is pretty upset that I don't think much of his choice in reading; he apparently listens to this guy religiously on the radio. After reading this idiotic waste of paper I can only conclude that Roy Masters is self-hypnotized by his own paranoid imaginings and he wants others to join him in his delusions. My recommendation is don't waste your time or money buying this book unless you're already a fan of this kooky radio guy. I only hope this was printed on recycled paper; I'd hate to think a tree died so that people could read this crap.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
