This is a facsimile reprint of the 1838 Lahainaluna history of Hawai'i. It is called by David Forbes in his Hawaiian National Bibliography (2000); one of the most important books on Hawaii. This is the first Hawaiian history written and published in Hawaii; and the first from a Hawaiian viewpoint. Sometimes catalogued as the work of David Malo; it is rather the cooperative effort of a select group of Lahainaluna students and their instructor; Sheldon Dibble.

The proofreading isn't great -- many of these problems could have been corrected by search-and-replace or substitution using regular expressions. Adams's book has many; many chapters within two "books;" and this publisher's solution for how you will access them is so bad it makes the entire book unusable. allows you to create an "official" table of contents which can be accessed through the Kindle reader/program/app; to which you have access at any time. This publisher's solution is to put chapter titles with links at the beginning of the book. This makes them practically inaccessible and useless; precisely because there is no TOC. This edition is a $0.99 piece of OCR shovelware with a $5 00 price tag.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Grandson of a president trumps wife of a vice presidentBy John B ChambersRead Adams masterpiece on Madison if you are looking for-- a comprehesive account of the two Madison administrations; including policies; military history; diplomatic initiatives; and economic performance;-- vivid prose with a clear point of view;-- an excellent sequel to his masterpiece on the Jefferson administrations.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The book is excellent - a true classic- but this edition is marred ...By SamwiseThe book is excellent - a true classic- but this edition is marred by an evidently casual proofreading which leaves many annoying errors. Still; it is worth buying;
