Excellent for descendants of the men who fought in the regimentBy KCI ordered this book; the memoir of a young officer; because three ancestors fought in the regiment. It was fascinating to read details about their service which helped make them "real people" for me.That said; I'm not sure many people would feel as I do; in spite of its being written by one who was there. The regiment served very near my home. The writer mentions the two brothers and their cousin. Those two factors caused me to feel quite emotional. The book is a bit tedious and the writer seemed to congratulate himself too much for his accomplishments. If you're interested in his observations of the Southern culture and the daily lives of the soldiers along with battle descriptions you may not mind his style.
