Historical Sketch Roster of the Alabama 4th Cavalry Regiment (Russell's) (Confederate Regimental History Series) (Volume 30)

DOC Historical Sketch Roster of the Alabama 4th Cavalry Regiment (Russell's) (Confederate Regimental History Series) (Volume 30) by John C. Rigdon in History

Description

On the platform with President Wilson; sat the daughter and last surviving child of General Meade; also the daughter of General A. P. Hill; and the son of General Longstreet. This remarkable document is rare for a couple of reasons. The first is that it focuses on the men from Vermont who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg. The book details the actions of the Vermont soldiers on the three days in July; 1863 that marked the turn of the Civil War. The second is that the book also contains a rare account of the reunion; fifty years after Gettysburg; by veterans of both sides of the conflict. Meeting at Gettysburg in July of 1913; the veterans shook hands; told tales; and met comrades whom they had not seen in half a century.
