Gunships: The Story of Spooky; Shadow; Stinger and Spectre

PDF Gunships: The Story of Spooky; Shadow; Stinger and Spectre by Wayne Mutza in History

Description

A modern Varieties of Religious Experience that traces the sources of the New Age movement through three hundred years of "alternative" spirituality America is witnessing a third Great Awakening; an explosion of interest in esoteric and mystical religious experience. Often referred to as New Age or pop psychology-especially by its detractors-this new awakening is a profoundly psychological one; stressing the alteration of consciousness; the integration of mind and body; and the connection between physical and mental health. Shadow Culture finds the roots of the New Age in the sermons of Jonathan Edwards; the writings of Emerson and Thoreau; and the counterculture of the 1960s. It will appeal to anyone interested in the resurgence of spiritualism in America; from New Age seekers to Gnostics; from agnostics to Unitarians; from Swedenborgians to practicing Buddhists.

It was well written with detailed information on the planes and operating systems along with very good photographs and excellent first person accounts. It was not just a dry account of unit histories but a true history of the origin and development of the gunship weapon system and the people involved with its develpoment and operation. I found the book very informative and a great reference.6 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Gunships: From the 'Nam and beyondBy T. GraggThis is one of two very in-depth coverages of the Gunship Story that I have read/viewed. It covers the whole spectrum of the aspects of design; manufacture;testing;training;transport;use in various scenarios;repair;updates based on changing theater requirements/advances in electronics; all the while utilizing older and even larger weapon systems/aircraft(40mm;105mm/C-47;C-119;C-130)which in the beginning were not conceived to be used in this manner. I would recommend this book to anyone who can visualize the possibilities that are inherent in our need to alter our past/current technology in order to complete "The Mission" in a cost-effective manner.
