I grew up near Bethpage and years later I was in Navy Air at NAS .NY; and also flew with the Coast Guard out of CGAS Brooklyn in this plane!! Lots of pictures!! One pix was mis ID'd and I knew it was Brooklyn; spent 3 years there. Grumman; the best Naval A/C builder of all time produced this and many others; Especially in early part of WWII; the Wildcat which held the Fort against the more numble but inferior Zero {no pilot armour; paper plane] until the mighty Hellcat cleared the skies in the Pacific......later years...HANDS DOWN; the best Fighter; longest range interceptor [over 100 miles] than "smart" bomber this nation ever had; the incredible F-14 Tomcat!! one plane from the 70's that flew for 35 years; doing it all!! All from a company called" the IRON WORKS" for toughness; from little known Bethpage; Long Island; New York!!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I was very impressed with the text and pictures of the Albatross; in particular is a nice chapter of the Albatross in U.S. Coast Guard use with pictures I have not seen anywhere else. The book of course also covers U.S. Air Force and Navy use; again with many great pictures and also worldwide use. If you want one book on your shelve for the Albatross; make it this one.
