Caught in the crossfire of Nazi oppression; two people triumph in this story of courage; luck and passion during one of the darkest moments of the 20th Century. After surviving a perilous escape from the infamous death camps of Auschwitz; William Herskovic miraculously made his way across Nazi-occupied Europe. Becoming one of the first recorded eyewitnesses of Hitler's atrocities; he alerted the underground; and was eventually credited with the rescue of hundreds; perhaps thousands; bound for the gas chambers. Mireille; still merely a teenager; managed to hide her parents in attics and rural homes; risking her life daily to venture out for the food to keep them alive. The Herskovic family survived the perils of the Holocaust with their souls and spirits soaring.

Amazing architecture and great spiritual significance. This book is very well conceptualized and a collector's treasure. Seves as a coffee table book as well. Informative monograph that is also usable as a guidebookBy Sumit GuhaThis volume by George Michell and Indira Peterson was timed to coincide with the 1000 year anniversary of the great temple. It is clear and accessible but also scholarly and has great photos. In fact; the images of frescoes in the book are much better than what one can see when physically present in the temple itself. It is a large volume but I would really recommend it to someone who is about to visit the temple. It is in my opinion; much more informative than the average authorized guide that one can hire on site.
