George Washington's Farewell Address (Little Books of Wisdom)

DOC George Washington's Farewell Address (Little Books of Wisdom) by George Washington in History

Description

Joe Owen tells it like it was in this evocative; page-turning story of a Marine rifle company in the uncertain early days of the Korean War. His powerful descriptions of close combat on the snow-covered mountains of Chosin Reservoir and of the survival spirit of his Marines provide a gritty real-life view of frontline warfare. As a lieutenant who was with them from first muster; Owen was in a unique position to see the hastily assembled mix of regulars and raw reservists harden into a superb company known as Baker-One-Seven. His fast-moving narrative describes enemy night assaults; foxhole fights; patrols through Chinese lines; and dramatic examples of Medal of Honor gallantry; and he supports his account with tales from other survivors.

Politics made poeticBy DouginNCThis short treatise is written with beauty of word and carefulness of thought; from unprecedented experience and virgin love of country. Lyrical are these words; expansive yet poetic all the same. The actions suggested or implored beseech one country; under God; to realize the ambitions and potential inherent in an infant nation. How amazed would be Geo Washington; though saddened so greatly by the Civil War and politics of late; to see what has been wrought.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Support for the principles of Washington's Address should be required by all who serve in governing the USBy JakiHow does one review Washington? I cannot be comfortable with owning people; and I know he freed his slaves when he died; but I regret this horrible blot on his character; even as I am astounded by the wisdom of his thoughts on the future of America. I wish he'd seen and written on stepping back from the precipice on which we now find ourselves.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy Richard W.
