Excellent introductory resourceBy Kindle CustomerAs an adjunct professor of undergraduate Holocaust and Genocide Studies courses; I have found Genocide: The Basics; by renowned Holocaust and genocide scholar; Paul R. Bartrop; to be the perfect textbook for such courses. Bartrop accomplishes what would seem to be impossible: he provides an extraordinary amount of information about many different genocides in a very slim book. What’s more; the writing is not only factually reliable (see Bartrop’s page for the breadth of his work) but highly accessible to students and others who are looking for a place to start in this complex field. The book provides more than just sound explanations of the what and why of each genocide: the questions at the end of each chapter are excellent for generating classroom discussions (it’s clear that Bartrop knows how to teach genocide in the classroom); the glossary is spot-on for terms that students will need to know; and the bibliography; extensive for a basics book; is a great source for additional reading.
