Has excellent color drawings of all French regimental flags from just before the revolution until the end of the empire. Pretty much EVERY French regimental flag is shown. Almost too much detail since many times the only difference was the battle honors written on the flag. You can't complain about the thoroughness though. A great reference book that you'll come back to again and again. Probably the best part is the revolutionary flags; this seems to be the part that is the least well documented in other sources. That part alone makes the book a great deal.Complaints? I'll be nit picky. Would have loved a little more on the history of the flags; this is more of a picture book although they do give a decent introduction. Would also liked to have had an appendix that referenced all remaining examples and where they are.I'd buy every one of these if they started doing other countries. Well worth the price.
