Presents a thought-provoking examination of the group personality of Europeans; as manifest in their behavior towards Black people. In the essay ""The Psychopathic Racial Personality;"" Dr. Bobby Wright contends that viewing white behavior towards nonwhites as psychopathic provides a new lens through which to analyze and combat the actions and aims of Europeans. The essay ""Black Suicide: Lynching by Any Other Name"" positions the phenomenon of Black suicide within the context of centuries of white genocide. In other essays Dr. Wright discusses ways in which to best educate Black children and sheds new light on the evolution of white supremacy.

It is an incredibly detailed and well researched book regarding the 11th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry of the Confederacy and its travails during the Civil War. I happen to be a direct descendent of General James Edward Rains (pictured on the cover) who figures heavily in this treatise and so my interest is likely greater than most. But if you are a student of the Civil War and; especially; if you have ancestors who fought on the Confederate side and most especially if they were in the 11th Tennessee then you might find this a fascinating read. It is very detailed in its descriptions of the many battles fought outlining person by person the actions taken and the results; including naming many hundreds of wounded and dead and how they were wounded or killed. It is reasonably balanced in its treatment of the Federal and Confederate actions.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A WONDERFUL BOOK...A GREAT LOOK AT THEIR BATTLES AND THE WORDS OF THE MEN THEMSELVESBy historymimiThis book certainly did not disappoint me..and it was worth waiting for!! I have never read book on one unit that was as thorough as this book. I love the fact that it takes the 11th all the way from the beginning of the war until war's end. First hand letters and comments were included and they too were in order with the battle discussed. The authors gave the names and history..before; during; and after the war..of the men of the 11th. It was a thrill to read about the battles as they occurred and the mens' comments. My ancestors were included; and I really appreciate this. These authors have put so much time into this book. I can promise you that you will not regret purchasing this book. Every historian needs this book on their bookshelf. I wish there were more books written about separate units with as much information as this book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
