When Bipolar is a good thingBy Stephanie SaucedoI have enjoy reading the rich history of the Southwest that has been presented here using educated deduction with a number of different written records from the time period. It was a refreshingly relatively clear view of Texas history that I think our youngest minds should be learning instead of the trite information that is being taught in today's school.Texan children are taught to idolize Davy Crockett and the other Colonial settlers in the pursuit of justice over the crazy Santa Ana and his Mexican army; but no one mentions that the Anglo American Colonists fought along side Early Mexican Settlers; or that Mexican signatures helped legalize the Texas Declaration of Independence. This book explores that as well as the acquisition of New Mexico; Arizona; and California; in a balanced light by sharing letters written by Anglo Americans and Mexicans of the time.If your interested in culture or history give a very unique view into a time that has been glamorized for over a century with bad information.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. As an Anglo-American I always viewed the Mexicans and other Latinos as immigrants and foreigners but after this class and reading this book I realized I'm more of an immigrant in my community.
