Good beginner; well worth the readBy DFD121Great little book that hits the high points on the many things that helped to cause Wa Between the States. All too often things are seen through today's understanding of history; it's easy to forget just how different the times were and how different things were. This book covers many of the differences between the Northern Dtates and the Southern States and why things spiraled into chaos; and how that has changed our country. It's much deeper than the moral superiority of the North and the cruelty of the South that it taught in most schools today.History is more shades of grey with little black and white than you will watch on the history channel or with Ken Burns.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. It does look like a winner based on what I have seen so ...By Feldmar Twomblebee has not given me enough time between receiving the book and when I began reading it to do an adequate job of putting together a review. Able to read further following the citations as sources. Very little hyperbole. Seems to be simply presenting historical evidence rather than presenting an editorial. Great read for those seeking to understand the circumstances surrounding the war.
