This book has been over 150 years in the making; from actual experiences of a nine year old girl and a confederate soldier during the Civil War in 1862 - 1865 as told to and documented by Jennie Kelly Muse until the publication of this book; 2014; from which documents were literally located in boxes from the attic. Journalist and author Clark Cox; late of Rockingham; NC; wrote that the document of the Yankees invasion of Rockingham is the only known account of that invasion by a contemporary; he also wrote that the memoir of John A. Muse is one of the most vivid and colorful accounts of a confederate soldier that exists.
