I enjoyed the story so much that I finished it on my own. I never knew how difficult it was for the DPs. I couldn't put the book down.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Excellent book on a forgotten topicBy Robert VitasI recommend this book to those interested in World War II; ethnic history; and refugee issues. Most Americans are not aware of this particular group of immigrants; what they experienced during and after the war. When Americans were returning to the US after Germany's defeat; the DPs were still in the war for another five to six years. This also reveals the tragedy of the US alliance with the Soviet Union; which these people were fleeing from.
