Somewhat politically-slanted in the first chapter and too restrictive to what cultural diversity really is. Mostly talked about whites versus mainly African-American; but barely addresses issues that include Native Americans; Spanish decent; Indian; Asian; or Appalachian and white sub-cultures or how to successfully navigate a counseling session with anyone of a different culture than oneself; other than "just do it" with some courage and respect. It did at least address "white privilege" with some bravery that helped me.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I don't get how a book on cultural diversity can focus so much on white people and how racism can hurt THEM so much. This was required reading and I regret even picking it up. And for those of you who are saying it's anti white; it focuses on how whites are the oppressors because they are the ones with the most power in the US. It focuses on whites being racist because people of color can't be racist. You can't be racist against a group that can't be oppressed. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
