Description

A new; annotated edition of an important slave narrative first published in 1922. Written by William Henry Singleton; who had been a slave on a Craven County; North Carolina plantation; this volume is a compelling account of a long and remarkable journey from slavery to freedom in the American South. Singleton recounts his years as a slave in antebellum North Carolina; his escape to Union-occupied territory during the Civil War; and his wartime service in the African Brigade; before concluding with a brief sketch of his life after 1865.

Review

In this case; it is more of the wonders that came from the talented engineers at Convair. The previous volume dealth with seaplanes and bombers. This one details fighters; attack aircraft and "unique" proposals. Some of those concepts were truly unique and shows how far "out of the box" were Convair's engineers willing to go. For fans of technology; aviation; aviation history and militaria; this is an excellent volume to acquire. The production values are high and the detail is quite good. The photographs and illustrations are well done; clear; and relevant. I'm glad I purchased this book and highly recommend it to others!4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Well illustrated coverage of advanced Convair aircraft projects.By Chester J. ZabaVery nice; well illustrated book. Interesting coverage of unbuilt Convairs with photos and line drawing illustrations. Like nearly all shipped hardbound books; this one arrived with crushed corners. Packaging box didn't look too bad; so I'm beginning to wonder if this damage isn't happening at 's distribution center. Can't beat 's prices; but I have had to return books to them because they just don't give a darn about whatever they ship once you've paid.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Consolidated - to - Convair fans you need this bookBy JCALThere is really nothing that will substantially add to the other reviews. There are some photographs I haven't seen before along with some brochure art from the manufacturer.
