ePub Confederate Black Ops: The Untold Story of the Confederate Clandestine Services by Charles L Tilton II in History

Description

Know your history; know your worth! From the fertile lands of the Ivory Coast; the ancestors of Thara Davis McGuire were snatched from villages; shackled and then forced to traverse the Atlantic Ocean without adequate food and water. The kinsmen who survived the journey spent hundreds of years tending to fields that paled in comparison to their Mother Land. The matriarchs cared for slave owners' children while their own children toiled and often died without knowing the joys of freedom. The creativity; strength and familial bonds of her forefathers withstood the adversity resulting in a bloodline of educators; artists and aviators. Filled with photos; vital records and historical narrative; Walking by Faith is not just Thara's history; it's your history too.

The font chosen is difficult for me to read... the lines were too close together or the letters were too close together or something. The writing was somewhat disjointed. It made it hard to follow any sense of timeline or organization. It was also interspersed with various quotes as "subtitles" that didn't always make sense to the following section of text. Was a distraction more than a boost to the writing. Other than that; the material was OK; but not a page-turner. I typically like all sorts of "espionage" books; fiction or non-fiction. This one left me scratching my head.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A historical treasure chest of information.By SCOTTCharles has brought to light a considerable amount of obscure accounts and constructed a detailed outline that shows the complexity of the Confederate Clandestine Services. They say the history of war is written by the winning side. This book attempts to reconstruct the missing bits of information left out of the history books in the discussion of the civil war. From the inception of Secret Service Bureau; to the development of the Secret Navy; on to the assassination of President Lincoln; his timeline of events has done a fine job delineating the complexities of this war which are seldom; if ever; discussed.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Set aside your opinions about the civil war and enjoy the contents of this book because it is not ...By Michael TasseyI just recently received this book and have not finished reading it yet...however at this moment I am very impressed with this book. I did not expect the content of this book and have found it to be intriguing. I have become enamored with many of the people in this book. Set aside your opinions about the civil war and enjoy the contents of this book because it is not about the outcome of the war or any political view but the untold stories of the people and their ingenuity. The information in this book is simply magnificent.
