Well researched book of Civil War hauntingsBy JustDuckIn the tradition of other Mark Nesbitt books; "Civil War Ghost Trails" tackles the history and the supernatural associate with critical battlefields of the American Civil War.Instead of just writing about experiences people have had when visiting or working at the battlefield sites; Mr. Nesbitt gives a comprehensive history of what transpired during the war. From battle tactics to intense details of the conditions the soldiers experienced; you are transported back to understand why many believe there are souls that could not or would not leave.Mr. Nebitt is best known for his series of "Ghosts of Gettysburg" books; and does include a story or two about that battlefield - but so many other sites are covered in this book. Antietam; Wilderness; Cold Harbor; Fredericksbug; and many many more.Even if you don't believe in anything supernatural; just reading this for the history is a good reason to purchase this book.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. One of the best ghost books I have read periodBy Robert B. LloydI think that any one who is interested in ghosts has at least some level of interest in history. Mark Nesbitt combines both in this fascinating period of history. He goes through all the major battles (and then some!) and how they contributed to hauntings today. The author is obviously very well versed in both Civil War history and ghostlore; and along with articulately talking about the ghosts; he also very clearly outlines the battles; focusing not only on the facts but also the emotional tolls these battles put on the combatants. I was luck to download this for free (I believe it is usually charged at $9.99) but I would gladly have paid the ten dollars; since this book is so high quality.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. history and ghost storiesBy HorseloverThis book is spellbinding for history lovers. Rich with details of the battles; and the tragedies the soldiers faced on both sides. The prelude of historical information is the perfect setting to help the reader understand the impact of the enormous loss and how that energy could linger and imprint the horrors of their time. It gives an understanding of why spirits may feel compelled to remain here. Beautifully written; I was left wanting more.
