Christian Perspectives on Politics; Revised and Expanded

ebooks Christian Perspectives on Politics; Revised and Expanded by J. Philip Wogaman in History

Description

Ronald Thiemann believes we live in a time and a culture where there is little agreement concerning many basic moral questions. He claims the line between private and public; between personal and political; can no longer be drawn with absolute clarity; and if moral decision making has an inevitable political dimension; then moral and theological reflection must seek to help Christians in dealing with the public aspects of their lives.

Review
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The Must Read Book for An Informed American Electorate: "Christian Perspectives on Politics; revised and expanded"By Ronald L. Ragland; M.D."Christian Perspectives On Politics; revised and expanded" is The Must Read Book for an informed American Electorate. Authored; revised and expanded; by noted Theologian and Ethicist Rev. Dr. J. Philip Wogaman; this book is of expansive breadth and great depth. Likely; many would-be reviewers have shrunk from attempts to provide synopsis. This book; I believe; is one wherein light-weights like me ("a poor; old; country Neuroradiologist") would typically defer to luminaries in Theology; Religion; Ethics; Christianity and Politics. The opinions of several persons of high-standing are noted on this book's back cover. Certainly their laudatory remarks regarding this book should be taken seriously; quite. In attempt to give a helpful level of insight into J.P. Wogaman's book; my prose cannot render appropriate service. Thus; I turn to an extensive excerpt from the poetry of the great; eloquent Maya Angelou's "On the Pulse of Morning"; 20; January; 1993: "There is a true yearning to respond to The Singing River and the Wise Rock. So say the Asian; the Hispanic; the Jew; the African; the Native American; the Sioux; the Catholic; the Muslim; the French; the Greek; the Irish; the Rabbi; the Priest; the Sheikh; the Gay; the Straight; the Privileged; the Homeless; the Teacher. They hear. They all hear The speaking of the Tree." Thank you for your soaring gift of poetic literacy; Dr. Angelou! Your words better illumine the scope and scale of "Christian Perspectives on Politics". How so? Well; you see; JPW has appropriately titled his book. However in the discussion; therein provided; all persons are afforded opportunity to gain profound; scholarly context from past; current and future political matters. Wogaman's book is significant. A worthy read. Therefore; this review should appropriately not linger too long . . . that which could be said within the span of this review falls short; far short; of the import of J. Philip Wogaman's text.
