In 1961 the world changes for eleven-year-old Aldo Martinez. Until that time he had lived the average life of a middle-class Cuban boy: playing with friends; enjoying birthday parties and Christmas celebrations; the only cloud in his life; the divorce of his parents. Then comes the revolution. Gunfire in the streets; the Cuban exiles' invasion at the Bay of Pigs; his father missing for days; Fidel Castro's soldiers take over his school and desecrate the chapel. His parents; often at odds over even the minor details of life due to their divorce; come together to see that Aldo escapes the revolution for a chance at a life of freedom. "The Unspoken Gift" is the story of Aldo's journey to America as one of 14;000 children sent out of Cuba without their parents through Operation Pedro Pan. It is the story of his life in America; the lessons learned in an orphanage; the American family who first taught him about the American Dream; and the hope of being reunited with his father and mother. But much more than that; it is the inspiring story of a family uniting to give their child the hardest but greatest gift - the unspoken gift of a love. A gift so great they were willing to take the chance of never seeing their son again to give him the opportunity to grow up in freedom.

The Ancient Egyptian religion connection to ChristianityBy AgrippaWhoa just whoa; a must read for anyone interested in facts of the ancient Egyptian religion and its relation to the later Christianity. I got my first paperback copy in 2010 (the only one with accompanying pictures); and later in 2013 got an additional kindle version of this same book (mind you; the paperback format is heavy although for a good reason - many hundreds of mainstream references for a very contentious subject). My favorite chapters were 'The Virgin Isis Mery' and 'Born On December 25th'. However one shouldn't stop there since the whole book is a treasure trove of academically relevant explanations and citations practically on every page. Contrary to what some people claim; D.M. Murdock - may she R.I.P. - was more a compiler of mainstream Egyptologists and related scholars than an author; although throughout the book she does give an accompanying well supported opinion based on what the many scholars she cites conclude. The reader will learn much about the ancient religion of the Nile and its connection to the later Christianity. Go ahead and buy the book!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Ever wondered how Christianity evolved from previous religions? Answers that and much much more.By J. CLARKI found this book to be Acharya S / D.M. Murdocks best read in terms of facts and research. It certainly goes deep into the historical predecessors of Jesus and Christianity. If you are like me; and always wondered where the behemoth Christianity came from... If you ever wanted truthful answers. This will give you that. The historical facts speak for themselves. And I will not try to convince you of faith or skepticism here. I'll leave that to the story that unfolds as you read this book. Though it is a hardy undertaking. This is not light reading for the easily amused. I would suggest starting with Suns of God first. That book was a quicker read. And something of a summary of the topics in his book. But Christ in Egypt gets down to the real meat and potatoes of where and how Christianity evolved.7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Truths That Time; Dogma; and Censorship Have ForgottenBy Tina Rae CollinsBefore reading this book; I read Murdock's Sons of God: The Horus-Jesus Connection. I found it to be quite enlightening and wanted a greater knowledge of the subject. Christ in Egypt; I believe; is even more eye opening--although I would suggest both books. Christ in Egypt presents a thorough study of characters and events regarding gods that preceded Christ yet are extremely similar to him and his life. Whatever your religious leanings are; I think you will be helped by this book; as it presents truths that time; dogma; and censorship have forgotten. Truth has nothing to fear by investigation; so enjoy! You might just learn something.
