First; it lets you know from the very beginning that this text is written through a Catholic lens. You know what the bias is; unlike so many commonly used textbooks that have a bias (usually secular humanism); but never state the fact. Second; familiar accounts take on a new light when you look at them in regards to how well the historical figure lived out his/her calling to be holy. I find the book recounts history in a way that inspires me to be a more godly individual. Third; because the text refers to primary sources frequently and mentions the affects of poorly written histories; I am encouraged to go back to the source material and better understand how history can be distorted. Rarely has a textbook had such a profound impact on my interest to delve seriously into history.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Catholic Educators ChoiceBy almamaterFinally; a history book written so well to the truth that top Catholic schools; including Mother of Divine Grace and Seton etc have used it for years. For a solid Catholic education; use this book for history.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy S. Merrickvery good. lots to learn
