One goal of this memoir is to inspire people to fight for change. It takes what I call the Art of Tough and I've had to do it all my life.---Senator Barbara BoxerBarbara Boxer has made her mark; combining compassionate advocacy with scrappiness in a political career spanning more than three decades. Now; retiring from the Senate; she continues the work to which she's dedicated 30 years in Congress. Her memoir; The Art of Tough; shares her provocative and touching recollections of service; and cements her commitment to the fight for women; families; quality; environmental protection; all in a peaceful world.Sometimes lauded; sometimes vilified; but always standing tough; Boxer has fought for what is right even when her personal convictions conflicted with her party or the majority rule.

GreenReading "The Family" and "C Street" should be required reading if you even want to begin to understand what has been going on behind the scenes in our country. For decades! It changes names and faces but it is there. It is an undercurrent steadily moving; maybe less visible at times but there nonetheless. A prominent name in government found in these books is out of sight but could now be working from one of the manipulative groups in the background. They are writing our laws and now undoing some of our protections. Jeff Sharlet is keeping us up to speed !0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A necessary readBy Mary O'Keefe KelloggThis is as essential as it was when it came out a few years ago.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Must readBy Lena PriamoThis book describes the working of the C Street influence in Washington and how Corporate America is in collusion to running this country as they see fit. Very interesting being educated on these facts.
