A highly recommended compendium of essaysBy Midwest Book ReviewBurying The Past: Making Peace And Dong Justice After Civil Conflict is a highly recommended compendium of essays drawn together by Nigel Biggar (Professor of Theology at the University of Leeds) and focusing the problems of establishing democracy after a transition from brutal; oppressive regimes -- and often violent civil; prolonged conflict. The problem is to reconcile the populace so that reprisals and revenge does not undermine or subvert the newly establishing democratic principles; procedures; and compromises. Very highly recommended reading for students of political science and international studies; here are to be found outstanding contributions by Donald Shriver; Jean Bethke Elshtain; Tuomas Forsberg; Martha Minow; Hugo van der Merwe; Marie Smyth; Brandon Hamber; Alexandra Barahona de Brito; Rachel Seider; Charles Villa-Vicencio; Stef Vandeginste; Terence McCaughey; and Nigel Biggar.
