Ebb and Flow records an important chapter in the Korean War; the period from late November 1950 to early July 1951 when battle lines did indeed ebb and flow in pronounced surges. Billy C. Mossman begins with the last weeks of the pell-mell rush of United Nations forces to the Chinese border and goes on to chronicle in great detail the test of American military leadership and resources posed by the taxing retreat of the Eighth Army and X Corps across the frozen wastes of North Korea. He highlights the limitations imposed by terrain and weather on the fighting capabilities of an American army facing surprise attack from a large disciplined enemy. In addition; the operations he describes in such careful detail vivify the principles of war for those with an interest in studying the profession of arms. With color maps; illustrations; bibliographical note; glossaries; index.

If you have played other games with seperate army books then you know this type of bookBy Charles B.Another expansion of the basic army list in the original Bolt Action core rule book. Bolt Action: World War II Wargames Rules: World War II Wargaming Rules. This specializes in the Soviet Union forces and it has different army types that made up the Soviet Armies during the WW2 era. They also include the history of the Soviet Union forces from the 1917 October Revolution until the end of the Second World War Two. It adds some specialized rules with respect towards the Soviet Union forces. After that it has the point values of various portions of a Soviet army; from headquarters units to the lowly supply drivers and supply trucks. Finally; it closes up it talks about what the various units like an infantry company would look like or a tank platoon would look like in the Finnish War compared to the Battle for the Kursk to the Battle for Berlin. This is a good expansion if the Soviet union forces are what you want to play with or play against. Otherwise; if you aren't interested in it; then there really isn't much need for this.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good content if a bit priceyBy Rick WestbrockGood resource for Soviet players (Bolt Action players with a Soviet army that is) but it seems a bit pricey for such a thin book.
