The records do not lie...By ColmcilleWith all the controversy regarding the War for Southern Independence nothing "rubs" a yankee the wrong more than seeing that blacks fought for the Confederacy. They can only resort to sayin' "They were only cooks and slaves." Now Ricardo Rodriguez has compiled the information from the National and States' archives; Confederate pension records; and slave narratives into a book. This book contains the names; ranks; duties; etc. of blacks who served from cooks and servants to sailors and soldiers. It also contains additional information regarding these men and their service to the CSA. Mr. Rodriguez has "no dog in the fight." He is neither a descendant of a Confederate soldier nor a Confederate sympathizer. He is currently working on a book about Hispanics in the Confederate and Union armies. So for all of those who say; "It isn't so"...Yes it is...and it's all in print.
