Description

From the stunning victory at Pearl Harbor to its dramatic reversal at Midway; the Imperial Japanese Navy swept all before it in its numerous victories in the Pacific and Far Eastern waters. The Imperial Japanese Navy in the Pacific War pulls from many of Osprey's bestselling books on the subject in addition to the most recent research on the subject; including many sources from Japan; and is the most recent and accurate book on this fascinating force.Even after its setback at midway; the IJN remained a powerful force and inflicted sever setbacks on the US Navy at Guadalcanal and elsewhere. The Imperial Japanese Navy focuses on the Japanese ships which fought the battles in the Pacific including design details; where and when they were engaged and their ultimate effectiveness. In addition; the construction; design and service history of each ship from destroyer size on up is included. A comprehensive survey of the submarine force is also included. Modifications of each ship are covered making this a valuable reference source for Pacific War enthusiasts and historians; as well as ship modelers.A short history of the IJN during the Pacific War places all warship design and history in proper context. Finally; a chapter discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the IJN is included ultimately asking the question of whether the IJN really was a modern Navy which was fully prepared for the rigors of combat in the Pacific.

Paradigm of toxic chemicals; corporate greed; and raceBy InnoSapienDr; Spears' meticulous research and insights exposes the inner workings of Monsanto's chicanery and greed; the ARMY's madnes;s and where race and color defined the most unimaginable toxic town in America. It is the story of PCB production; a highly toxic chemical; by Monsanto in Anniston in which the wastes were indiscriminately spread throughout the next door neighborhoods over decades; then when the plant was shut down; the facts and fate of the PCBs were hidden from the residents. This story mixed with the chemical agents produced by the ARMY near Anniston in a town with a history of racial issues makes for compelling reading. She documents the environmental crimes which conclude in a series of trials that reveal the sordid facts of Monsanto's behavior and the aftermath leaving the citizens of Anniston in a frightening unsettled state knowing that they are the recipients of PCBs that remain in their bodies and blood with the latent potential to destroy their health and lives at any time.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. WashingtonI was amazed at the historical facts presented in this extremely well researched book. Monsanto's legacy will always be defined by this almost unbelievable tale. The documentation was so extensive that I found myself skipping portions and instead pondering on the limits of human cruelty towards their own; which ranks up their with the Nazis and tribal genocide in Africa.
