This book is written to help Americans understand how people in other parts of the world are impacted by a United States' foreign policy that often seems arbitrary; self-serving; and inconsistent with the ideals of democracy. The author is past president of the Seychelles; neighbor to Diego Garcia from which many of the airstrikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan were launched. His comments are informative and constructive for anyone interested in creating a better and more coherent US foreign policy that will lead to a more peaceful world and prevent a recurrence of terrorist attacks on America.

Hildebrand: The Renowned Missouri Bushwhacker" is an extremely rare account from a Missouri partisan who survived the savage guerrila war in Missouri. Sam Hildebrand was rare because he operated largely in southeast Missouri away from the greater partisan war near the Missouri River; but he was even more rare because he lived to tell his story. It's an interesting read made even more interesting because it's in the man's own words. This edition is expertly edited by Kirby Ross who took great pains to annotate portions of the story that are unverified and portions that are backed up either in the Official Record or by contemporary news accounts. The most surprising part to me was how much of the story was apparently true. Sam Hildebrand lived some life. It flows well; and I recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the Missouri war.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
