Michael H. McCarthy has carefully studied the writings of Bernard Lonergan (Canadian philosopher-theologian; 1904-1984) for over fifty years. In his 1989 book; The Crisis of Philosophy; McCarthy argued for the superiority of Lonergan's distinctive philosophical project to those of his analytic and phenomenological rivals. Now in Authenticity as Self-Transcendence: The Enduring Insights of Bernard Lonergan; he develops and expands his earlier argument with four new essays; designed to show Lonergan's exceptional relevance to the cultural situation of late modernity.

A valuable resource for serious researchers; not the faint of heart.By AZ canyonhikerThe book deserves five stars for its graphic no-holds-barred collection of images. This book is for serious readers and is not for the faint-hearted or anyone younger than high school. However; it is a visual record of what happened put together by staff at the Auschwitz museum. I am dismayed that the only negative comment refers to the shipping condition of the book received; rather than the content value of the book itself. Ebay comments should refer to the seller because Ebay ranks sellers. comments should refer to the product itself as authors and products are rated on rankings. A vendor's poor shipping shouldn't lower the ranking of the product itself. I used this book for a long set of interviews with a survivor to trigger discussion and memories - which it did. When I visited Auschwitz ten years later (2013) and met with museum staff; knowing the book proved to be extremely helpful.11 of 13 people found the following review helpful. A great picture novel that helped me learn more.By A CustomerI'm still yet a child; and still yet to grow; but I will never grow out of the rememberence of the Holocaust. It was a time in our worlds history that we should never forget. This book helps reminds us of it and gives us a better view and perspective of what happen and to never take advantage of it.
