Bold Endeavors: Lessons from Polar and Space Exploration presents the results of 15 years of research for NASA and the Department of Defense concerning the factors that contribute to adjustment and sustained human performance under conditions of isolation and confinement. The research involved the study of previous space operations and conditions on Earth; such as submarines; Antarctic stations; polar expeditions; and voyages of discovery; that are comparable to what might be expected for future long duration space missions.Bold Endeavors is read by students; engineers; behavioral scientists; modern explorers; and the personnel staffing US Antarctic stations; among others; it has been described as “required reading†for members of NASA’s Expedition Corps; astronauts who are preparing for expeditions to the International Space Station and beyond. Bold Endeavors is of interest to the fields of psychology; psychiatry; human factors and ergonomics; anthropology; aerospace engineering; space medicine; personnel selection; organizational management; and the history of exploration. The chapter on Food is even used as a reference in culinary and hospitality-management programs.

Well Done; Sirs!By BG-expatI recommend this work for anyone working history of the Pacific War/WW II! It does a fairly good job of hinting at the Military/Industrial Mobilization and the productivity of USA workers. More important; is that this is an authentic SOURCE REFERENCE being released as a great gesture by AMAZON; bringing economical and accessible original reports and documents to light a second time! Well Done; Sirs! Wc0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Detailed and thorough. Engaging in spots.By Peter FBulkley's work shares great detail and a thorough treatment of operational activities of PT boats in the WWII period. When he zeroes in on some specific missions and engagements the reading is engaging. However most of it is really not much more than a recitation of operational logs - it was dry and dull at times. If you are interested in WWII naval history and a fan of PT boats then I suggest you read it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The Mosquito FleetBy John HerzfeldThe author; a PT veteran of WW2; has meticulously covered the roles of these boats in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He not only includess each battle; but names the officers and some of the enlisted crews involved. He does not miss any details; including the disappointing number of deaths by friendly fire. This is a good read; especially for a navy veteran.
