audiobook Art of War: Sun Tzu's Original Art of War Pocket Edition by Sun Tzu; Sun Zi in History

Description

Seeking to identify the plant origins of the early sacramental beverages Soma and Haoma; this study draws a connection between the psychoactive properties of these drinks and the widespread use of cannabis among Indo-Europeans during this time. Exploring the role of these libations as inspiration for the Indian Rig Veda and the Persian Avestan texts; this examination discusses the spread of cannabis use across Europe and Asia; the origins of the Soma and Haoma cults; and the shamanic origins of modern religion.

Review
6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Good but not perfect.By Chris CampbellPersonally I love Sun Tzu's Art of War and I went looking for a way to carry his philosophy wherever I went. I'll say though it was a tough search. This product had no reviews on it while other pocket editions did have reviews; they usually said that they were littered with commentary and were abridged versions. I decided to take a chance with this. Hence I felt obliged to leave this review.I had two requirements for the book I wanted:1. No commentary: I didn't want a dumbed down; abridged; explained version of it; I wanted Sun Tzu's purest words. This book passed that criteria with flying colors. There's a brief introduction in the front; a bibliography and a word about the translator but that's it thankfully. This IS Sun Tzu's Art of war; not an interpretation. I feel obliged to mention if you're used to the Lionel Giles translation; then there will be a bit of a learning curb for you. But who knows? It might help you come to a new understanding about the material.2. Size: I wanted it to be small enough to fit in my pocket and that sadly is not completely the case here. Technically yes you can fit it in your pocket if you're okay with the top portion sticking out (roughly a pointer finger length from the hem of your jeans to the lowest portion of your pocket); so it was a little bigger than I envisioned in my head. In a normal jean pocket; it slides in and out nicely; and you can hardly notice it while walking with it in your pocket. Sitting however you can. I believe 'travel size' would be a more accurate description. But I'm a poor judge of size and the dimensions are clearly stated in the product description so just bare that in mind and read everything.I got the product in time and it's clearly a new version. It's a very appealing book to look at and the formatting is excellent. I'm sure yes I could carry it with me wherever I went and hence was the point of buying this. I only wish it was smaller. Furthermore the picture is NOT what the book actually looks like; (see picture)All in all; good but not perfect.EDIT: Initially I left 4 stars but I decided to change it to 5 because there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the book or the service I received. It just didn't suit my exact requirements. Hence 5 stars! Well done to the seller and all responsible for the book!
