The content itself is straight forward (talking about American history from the post-civil war to modern day. Being a general history textbook; it covers a lot of areas but not a lot of details (depends on the topic). If you want to learn key events in history; that is fine; but if you want to know in depth detail like what was the actual plan to overthrow Queen Liliuokalani then I would suggest looking else where. The book is pretty objective it is not jingoistic or revisionist; so if you did not know much about the post-civil war to modern day American history before; reading this will give you the general idea.When ordering this books you get what is expected; which is good.
