The book is full of bio's of many different people who strove to make a difference. The book was broken up into different sections which brought to light the start of the slave trade in Africa; the introduction in North America and the periods of slavery in the US.There are some mistakes in the book that lessoned the overall credibility of the writer (stating that Jefferson was president of the Continental Congress is incorrect and hurt the point the writer was trying to make). At times; the book felt like a transcript of the TV show; but overall; I felt it was an important read.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. African American and their friends should insist that their high school students study this great book. Take a journey to slavery through the eyes so the author. You will never look at slavery and the descendants of slaves the same way again0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. An excellent economic analysis of the "benefits" of racismBy GARA marvelous history of Blacks in America; starting with the colonies and moving forward. An excellent economic analysis of the "benefits" of racism; that place it squarely in the center of our economy. A must read for understanding how we got to where we (still) are today.
