The origins of modern witchcraft - Wicca - are shrouded in mystery and controversy. One thing is certain: until the 20th century; "witches" were almost universally viewed as threatening figures whose main aim was to steal fertility; yet modern Wiccans are devoted to respecting the forces of nature and cosmic balance. How did this change take place? "From Witch to Wicca" looks at popular beliefs about witches from classical times to the Enlightenment; drawing on new research on the connections between European witches; shamans and folk ideas about the supernatural world; and shows how modern Wicca's roots may be far different; and far older; than is commonly believed. In doing so; it explains what today's Wicca is all about- a modern religion that many people have seen portrayed on TV and in movies but which few understand.

CRITICAL NEW DISCOVERYBy Robert Steven ThomasI rated this book FIVE STAR for three important reasons. 1) A major new breakthrough archeological discovery has been found that absolutely shatters the myth that is currently passed off as human history and being taught in our schools. 2) Conventional archeologists and Establishment science are so terrified at the implications of this discovery that they are burying their heads in the sand and refusing to ackowledge its presence. 3) The existence of this archeological treasure is additional evidence and confirmation of Sitchin's theories and interpretation of Sumerian history ... Advanced aliens (The Anunnaki) colonized Earth in remote history and genetically altered the DNA of our early ancestors - Homo erectus; creating us - Modern Man! This major new find in South Africa is very recent (discovered in the 21st Century). Because the Establishment is so fearful of its impact on the commonly accepted story of evolution there is very little work and investigation being conducted. However; a picture is worth a thousand words. This book is beautifully color-illustrated with about a hundred photographs (including aerial) and seeing is believing. You will be stunned at the size of these building complexes and roads ... with some locations including as many as a million stone building/structures. If you have an open mind this book must be in your library. Robert Steven Thomas; author:Intelligent Intervention0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Think for Yourself!By Berta K. NelsonThe best aspect of this book is Tellinger's encouragement of us all to explore our world come up with our own ideas! We've been lost too long in the confines of what the academics "experts" tell us; as though only they know the answers. It might very well be that archaeology has been hijacked to stop us from knowing our origins; and thus our identity possibility as a species. It is up to each of us to look think for ourselves. Keep researching; observe ask questions. This book gives plenty of clues as to where to look on your own journey of discovery. Tellinger's follow-up presentations on YouTube round out some of his assertions of an energy grid on/around earth; one of which is described in this book. The personal journey of discovery is far more satisfying than any other pursuit we can undertake. This book can be your launching pad if you let it!4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful photos on every pageBy Susanne MorlangI found myself debating the conclusions this author draws. While a thought provoking book is a good thing; I was looking for more proof for his conclusions than is currently available. Understanding civilizations of 1000 years ago based on only archaeology leads to many tentative or outright wrong conclusions. Multiply that by 50 to 100 times to leave me wondering if only the amount of lichen on the stones may be quantifiable. 100;000 to 200;000 years? Older than Goblekli Tepi? We need more information.
