When discussing the Tuskeegee Airmen; the writers implied that during bombing runs over Nazi germany; white fighter pilots "held back" from protecting the bombers over the target while the blacks didnt. This is not true.Actually; until late in the war; fighter planes did not have the fuel capacity to make it all the way to the targets with the bombers. it wasnt until the development of the P-51 Mustang - with which the Tuskeegees were equipped - that this situation was remedied.The authors also; truthfully; note that the Tuskeegees never lost a bomber to german fighters. While true; this is in no doubt partially due to the fact that by the time they were employed in aeriel combat; the Luftwaffe had been so decimated and lost so many pilots that they were not able to muster much in the way of defense.Not denigrating here; just correcting some factual inaccuracies.
