Across the Deep Blue Sea: The Saga of Early Norwegian Immigrants

audiobook Across the Deep Blue Sea: The Saga of Early Norwegian Immigrants by Odd S. Lovoll in History

Description

Jews have long seen the interwar years as a “golden age” for Polish Jewry and hold it in special reverence because of the community’s heroic struggle against the encroaching darkness of antisemitism. During the years 1918 to 1939; Polish Jews constituted the largest Jewish community in noncommunist Europe and were the leading cultural and political force in the Jewish Diaspora. In this volume distinguished American; West European; Israeli; and Polish scholars combine forces to explore the politics; antisemitism; economic and social life; religious patterns; and cultural creativity of a period whose relevance is heightened because of current changes under way in Eastern Europe.

He absolutely LOVED this book. He found a few people with his last name; and enjoyed the stories. He is an avid reader and very knowledgeable; so it was great that he found joy while reading this book.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. want to know why howBy HalGunGood background for anyone doing research on family emmigrating from Norway in the 1800's. Helped me understand how; why and the things my ancestors had to overcome to come to get to the USA. Helped me understand why they came to the Midwest to settle. If you have family from Norway and are doing a family tree you need this resource.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Outstanding. Highly Recommended.
