The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars was that it left many questions unanswered that he could provide valuable insight for. Buy his larger hard bound autobiography if you want to know a bit about his early life; the political atmosphere in Virginia (Jubal was a lawyer and in the Legislature); the war before 1864 and the postwar period. Jubal is one of my favorite Generals. Well written; I love his writing style. This is a General's view of events; for completeness get a Private's autobiography also.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
