This book was originally published prior to 1923; and represents a reproduction of an important historical work; maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process; we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors; strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work; there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages; poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections; we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment; providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections; and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

This book may be like reading a college textbook; but as Paul Johnson tells; the Jewish race is the only race who has a written record that goes back to first recorded time. Johnson had written an excellent history of God and His chosen people. This ancient religious race as the author relates has spent much of her time in captivity; emancipation; ghetto; or the holocaust; yet never has lost its language; rituals; and rabbinical traditions. Yet; even today the Jews are despised and hated and Muslims wants to annihilate them. It would do these people well to learn Jewish history as well as the Bible.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A history in the best sense of the wordBy Michael T KennedyI remember Paul Johnson being interviewed by Dennis Prager on his radio show a few hears ago. Prager asked Johnson; a Catholic; why he had written this book. Johnson answer was "If you want to learn something; write a book about it." Excellent advice and we are all the beneficiaries. Highly recommended.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A History of the Jews.By Donald A. TagProf. Paul Johnson is known for his thorough and competent writing on historical facts.
