Richmond; Virginia revealed in a journal by Mary Boykin Chestnut.By KA LottI loved Mary Boykin Chesnut's serious; dubious; sly; and funny account of what it was like living in Richmond; Virginia during most of the Civil War. Her journal shows Jefferson Davis; General Hood; and many of the wives of famous Southern Officers who stayed in boarding houses with Mary Chestnut. Mrs. Chestnut delivers on the good; the bad; and the ugly of the lives of all of these famous Southerners.
