Description

Abū ʿAlī Muḥammad Ibn Khallād al-Baṣrī was a distinguished disciple of the Muʿtazilī theologian and founder of the Bahshamiyya; Abū Hāshim al-Jubbāʾī (d. 321/933). He is reported to have written a theological summa; Kitāb al-Uṣūl; as well as an autocommentary. None of the works of Ibn Khallād has come down to us directly; although substantial portions of his Kitāb al-Uṣūl and/or Sharḥ al-Uṣūl have reached us embedded in the Kitāb Ziyādāt Sharḥ al-Uṣūl by the Zaydī Imām al-Nāṭiq bi-l-ḥaqq Abū Ṭālib Yaḥyā b. al-Ḥusayn b. Hārūn al-Buṭḥānī (d. 424/1033). The present volume contains an editio princeps of the text of the Ziyādāt; based on what seems to be a unique manuscript; owned by Leiden University Library (Cod. Or 2949 [= Arab 2307]).

One thing really going for is the great pix of thousands of different weapons (not all photo's are correct though). However the values are outdated and have not been changed for at least 2 years and I think even more. The industry standard is The Blue Book of Gun Values by S.P. Fjestad; but Blue Book does not have photo's. If you are interested in firearms I recommend that you get Standard Catalog of Firearms once every 5 years and Fjestad's Blue Book every year. The 2 work well together.Zed Child0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. One of the two most reliable firearms reference books that ...By Neal A. WilliamsOne of the two most reliable firearms reference books that will help the collector and the FFL determine the value of most guns. The catalog has the most photographs and lists a bit lower so compare with the Blue Book of Gun Values which typically is just a little higher and I usually go with something in the middle. If you have both books and update them yearly you will have a very accurate way of grading and evaluation of firearms2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good book for gun enthusiastBy H. TaylorThis is my second Standard catalog of Firearms (2007 2009). Along with the Blue Book on firearms this makes a very good reference as to what the value of about any firearm made is worth. A few are not included in the book; but most are; along with pictures. I only buy one every two years because I buy a Blue Book in even years and the Standard Catalog in odd years. This lets me keep up with the value of most firearms all the time.
