For years we've heard that the Crusades were about Western imperialists bent on plundering the Middle East for treasure by rootless sons of the aristocracy. In fact; the Crusades were pilgrimages conducted at great expense to allow safe passage for Christian pilgrims and to recover lands lost to centuries of Moslem conquest. Likewise; the Inquisition was; relative to other courts of the era; a benign affair. In fact; defendants often tried to have their cases heard by Inquisition courts due to their (again relative) leniency. Read Fr. The question and answer format makes it easy to provide sharp focus on a given topic. Additional counter arguments such as more examples from the Reformation and their rebuttal could help. Overall easy to read and to the point.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A great guide on the Crusades and The InquisitionBy Susan E.
