A real life multi generational family making their first 100 years from The Old Country to success in America. Weaving between historical context and true life examples; the stories of triumph and tribulations are heart warming. Jewish trials of integrating and adapting are both numerous and thoughtful. Mark Shulkin brings knowledge of Jewish history; psychology; and science as setting for many interesting family stories. From an understanding of a mother's devotion and singular grief for her child; a grandfathers secret and dangerous work helping his neighbors while risking the pogroms; to modern day success in all fields. A great read; I recommend it highly.
